Whenever an event is big enough to close down Wilshire Boulevard, it's worth a look. So please check out the Wall Project, an extraordinarily elaborate attempt to recreate the Berlin Wall in Los Angeles. This project is monstrous in scope, and with the destruction of the wall coming this Sunday -- on the eve of the original wall's collapse -- it won't fall short of being, well, completely epic.
From The Wall Project: "The Wende Museum will hold a midnight ceremony to mark the 20th anniversary of the fall of the Berlin Wall. As midnight approaches, the Wall Across Wilshire will be put in place, stopping traffic on Wilshire Boulevard. At midnight, artists participating in the Wall Projectt will topple the Wall Across Wilshire, and this final commemorative act will be broadcasted live on German television on November 9, the day the Wall first fell in 1989. Prior to the ceremony, The Wende Museum will host an Evening in Celebration of The Wall Project.
