Nowadays it seems being a model is a prerequisite for having a set of fangs. But before Bill Compton, Edward Cullen, and Louis de Pointe du Lac, there was Nosferatu, a monster not known for his dashing good looks or winning personality. This Friday, Downtown Independent and SFTS will screen this 1922 vampire horror classic to help remind us that a monster should look like, well, a monster. The film's full title is Nosferatu, eine Symphonie des Grauens (Nosferatu: A Symphony of Horror). Of course, being a silent film, the symphony accompanying this vampire is up for grabs, depending entirely on who is holding the instrument. This performance melds old-school German Expressionist film with a live soundtrack by modern artists: KILLKILLKILL, jones.keusch, WMX, lola & loshkey, (and of course some organ will be thrown into the mix).
Looking for a more classic Nosferatu experience? The L.A. Phil is having their own organ-backed Nosferatu screening.
$10, $5 for SFTS members
