The music of Issa Bagayogo is a delicate, tonal collage. Playing the west African instrument, the n'goni, (a three-stringed lute), Issa combines the sounds from his homeland of Mali with more contemporary styles such as rock, funk, dub, and electronica. Creating sounds that move beyond the traditional and into the experimental, Issa is the quintessential global artist who dissolves the rigid notion of "genre" and creates music that defies categorization.
