RAND's Health Care Matrix

The RAND Corporation released this week a colorful online spreadsheet that compares and contrasts various national health care proposals.

The matrix is located here.

A press release from RAND is here.

That release notes:

"...a mandate requiring individuals to obtain health insurance — an option in various current legislative proposals — would increase the number of Americans with coverage by 9 million to 34 million, while a mandate requiring employers to offer insurance would boost the figure by 1.8 million to 3.4 million."

RAND also notes that if the recommendations from the tank's 2008 health care white paper were implemented, then Americans would live an estimated total of 9.3 million years longer than we currently do.
