VOD: California Argot

David Pescovitz over at Boing Boing writes of the video below: "I love the way this surfer talks in this TV news interview:"

I'm not originally from here and not much of the limited SoCal time I have put in has been spent hanging ten, so I'll defer to the natives. Is this really how they talk the talk on the beaches of SoCal? The line between surfer and stoner are bit fuzzy for me, and I imagine there is an aural chicken-and-egg effect where iconic argot from Hollywood fantasies of the local scene begets argot:

Of course, fake or not, surfer talk in, say, Italian, just doesn't have the same ring:
