The Federal Trade Commission last Monday Oct. 5th proceeded to make online reviews more transparent by mandating that writers disclose "freebies" and payments that they receive from companies for reviews.

"The Federal Trade Commission will try to regulate blogging for the first time, requiring writers on the Web to clearly disclose any freebies or payments they get from companies for reviewing their products.

"The FTC said Monday its commissioners voted 4-0 to approve the final Web guidelines, which had been expected. Violating the rules, which take effect Dec. 1, could bring fines up to $11,000 per violation. Bloggers or advertisers also could face injunctions and be ordered to reimburse consumers for financial losses stemming from inappropriate product reviews. " - From the New York Times

So in full disclosure this blog is brought to you by the following:

1. Kleenex
2. Lipton's Tea
3. Half a Latte that I forgot to finish. 4. Fake Uggs
5. A bunch of hair pins and an elastic band.
6. Assorted stuff on my desk.
7. Tylenol
8. Yoga pants (generic)
9. My favorite black t-shirt
10. Hummus from the local Armenian market
11. DWP (powered by...)
12. TimeWarner (internet by...)

And thanks to Richard my Mailman who breaks the day up by knocking and saying hello and to his employer the USPS. All of the above have contributed to my online blogging and have not influenced me in any way other than to keep me hydrated and headache free.

I snorted a laugh right out my nose. Very, very funny. The horrifying thing is that upon reading the new mandate (key word "the Man") I thought, "It's me! Oh Ghad, I've broken the law in my blog I'm sure I have."

I'm scared Ophelia. But I'm also laughing at your blog. What does that mean.

Ann, my job is done. :O) ophelia
