I Rather Be Informed Than Hot

"Man, you look tired."

Whenever someone tells me I look tired, I have to stop and think about it. Am I tired? Do I look tired? Most of the time I am not tired at all, but after the comment I slouch over and think "maybe I am?"

Whenever I am away from my computer and into the real world, I try to look sharp and put together. My usual clothing style is soft and comfortable, outside it's zippers, buttons and structured. But my face stays the same. So when I get the "you look tired" comment, I have to wonder, "is there a way to not look tired?"

I work long days, I start at 6 am and go until 7 pm. I enjoy my work and it would be a long day if I didn't. But does it wear on my face? Vanity tells me no, reality maybe something completely different. How can I rectify this? Sleep more? But there is too much to see, read and do, I can't waste it on sleep. Magic eye puffs? No, then I have to close my eyes. So the only way I can see is surgery. Snip that tired look off my face, and replace it with a bright eager face that is constantly chipper. But that wouldn't be me, I would be still tired under that tight mask. The only solution is to ween myself off some of the distractions that are thrown in front of me, all the blogs, online streaming, music, shopping, news, all that is available to me with a simple keystroke. But I would be missing out on something and be out of the loop. There is no solution, I am just going to look tired but on the inside I will be bright, eager and ready to learn something new everyday. It's a small price to pay, just a dose of vanity and a bit of concealer.
