The Land of Roses and Flying Cows

Restless sleep, tossing and turning like a leaf in a storm, I roll from one side to the other hoping that some thought would lull me to sleep.

It's 2 am and I am laying there looking at the wall. The light from the clock shines a green glow across the night stand, like a goblin waiting to bounce on my half lidded eyes. A beep breaks the quiet dark lull, it's my iPod. It has wifi and I had forgotten to turn it off. I lean over to grab it, maybe it's a secret spell to put me to sleep. I scroll through to see a message. It's spam.

"You can have it all!"

I can have all these drugs! Wow, I see Vicodin, Viagra, Xanax and a few others that look like they could put the whammy on my sleep gremlin. If I clicked on the link, what would pop up? Probably something sketchy. I resist and turn off the iPod. Nothing good comes from late night messages, so I roll over and think of who's awake out there besides me. I roll back and switch it back on.

"Hello", who's awake? I hit my Facebook app on the screen. Looks like everyone is asleep and the ones awake are up to no good, they are posting numerous links to news articles. They must do this because I must look like I have no contact outside my bubble.
"Look here Ophelia! The world is burning over here!"
"Polar bears need your help now!"
"Are you eating too much fruit?"

I roll back and slap it off. It's 3 am and I know where my kids are, they are snoring in the other room. One eyelid slowly creeps down, the other follows soon after.

I yawn and at that moment I pass over into the land of roses and flying cows.
