What Did I Learn This Year?

Looking back a year ago, I was sitting in Kota Kinabalu, Malaysia, watching the sun set over the ocean with my extended family.

This year I am at home about to leave for a flight out to Ft. Lauderdale. A scaled down holiday compared to last year's, but not scaled down in love. I have learned the value of family, friends, and the love for life this year. I have watched friends survive cancer, divorce, job loss, shifts in life choices and I have seen them do it all with courage and hope.

This coming year we will measure our wealth not in monetary terms but in terms of love. Love for our fellow human, love for the ground that we walk on, love for life and the love we feel for the future.

May the year of 2009 bring you love, hope and courage.

This past year had a lot more downs than up for me. I made a trip out to Southern California where I discovered I have good friends and caring people around me all along. I will always have that with me.

May 2009 be more memorable than ever. Happy New Year O!
