FIne Cut - A Festival of Student Film
Filmmaker Henry Jaglom hosts the sixth season of KCET's Fine Cut - A Festival of Student Film.
Sundays, June & July at 11pm. Fine Cut 2003 premieres August 3rd!

Fine Cut - A Festival of Student Film, now in its sixth season, features the work of a collection of visionary artists and filmmakers attending such SoCal institutions as the Art Center College of Design, the American Film Institute, California Institute of the Arts, Loyola Marymount, UCLA, and USC. These films are as diverse as the people who made them, ranging from cockeyed fairy tales, to gut-wrenching stories of love and betrayal, to hard-nosed documentaries of Los Angeles life. The films can be of any genre and style and have been produced within the last two years.

Henry Jaglom is one of the most respected independent filmmakers in the world. His career in film began in the 60s, with guest appearances on the popular television series Gidget and The Flying Nun. He first stepped behind the camera as an editorial consultant for Dennis Hopper's 1969 magna-opus Easy Rider, and helmed his first feature, A Safe Place in 1971, his one and only film to receive major studio support.

In the years since, Jaglom has directed 16 films - most recently Festival In Cannes, which is still playing nationwide, and is in pre-production on Shopping, slated for release in 2003. He continues to write, edit and act in much of his own work. Much heralded for is innovative and unique approach to filmmaking, Jaglom received the Lifetime Achievement Award from The Method Fest Independent Film Festival in Pasadena, CA in 1999.

Fine Cut - A Festival of Student Film receives generous support from the Bridges Larson Foundation, a non-profit organization established by producer Jack Larson in memory of director James Bridges. The goal of the foundation is "encouraging excellence in theatre and film" through film school scholarships and grants.
