L.A Music: INDIE

The Spores have taken root with their eccentric brand of "doom pop" and mind-twisting live shows. Their tracks are strewn with so many layers of found sounds that it would take a team of digital archaeologists to trace their origins.

About The Spores

The Spores may well have come to us across oceans of time upon a solar wind to spawn their musical and visual aesthetic in our midst. Performing live shows complete with hand made paper-mache puppets and video projections, The Spores leave no aspect of creativity unexplored.

Veterans of the high desert music community that has brought us Queens of The Stone age, Kyuss, Fu Manchu, Gram Rabbit, and The Earthlings among others, The Spores' Molly McGuire and Greg Biribauer, with their new drummer Kenny Pierce offer us a funk-heavy, multi-layered symphony that suggests a world in flux, conflict and alienation. Yet for all the Doom in their pop, The Spores' music is full of hopeful yet cautious love songs sung amid the wreckage of a post-apocalyptic landscape the likes of which we haven't heard since Bowie's "Diamond Dogs" or Ridley Scott's Blade Runner.
