Diavolo Dance Theatre

By KCET Admin
November 14, 2009

diavolo_event.jpg

The unusual and often astonishing movements of the Diavolo Dance Theater will amaze audiences at the Greek Theatre on Saturday, November 14. Expect the unexpected as the acrobatic dancers execute dazzling displays of choreography in a dance spectacle, benefitting the City of Los Angeles' Department of Recreation and Parks. Dancers will perform several pieces to the live beats of Destructo, a first time collaboration.

Diavolo reinvents dance, re-imagines theater, and redefines thrills. Theatergoers around the world are always wondering what sort of wizardry artistic director Jacques Heim will conjure up next for his daring troupe of performers. Diavolo takes movement, athletics, and daring to the extreme, creating abstract narratives through surreal tableaux in which inspiration thrives.

Veterans Day Events

By Laura Swanson
November 11, 2009

Veterans Days was originally celebrated on the eleventh hour, of the eleventh day, of the eleventh month because it marked the end of World War I, or Armistice Day. Many wars and conflicts later, the holiday was renamed to honor all veterans.

Here are some of the memorial services, parades, and festivals in the Los Angeles area honoring our Veterans. Some of the events are new while others have a long history in our community.

You can also check out KCET's Get Involved page for ways to volunteer and serve past and present Veterans. Even more ideas can be found on iParticipate.
