DIRECTOR, ADVERTISING & PUBLICITY
JOB SUMMARY
Develop and supervise corporate and program branding, publicity, station advertising and promotional activities on print, radio, online and television.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE JOB
• Along with the Vice President, Programming, Publicity and Promotion, develop annual publicity, advertising and branding strategies for KCET. Develop long-range strategies for the station's public relations and branding based on KCET's overall goals and objectives.
• Interface with all KCET departments to ensure consistency of the brand and its messaging.
• Serve as the primary station spokesperson with the media on designated issues.
• Work with PBS on national media issues and advise management on messaging.
• Develop station messages for Senior Management, Development and Viewer Services.
• Design and supervise publicity campaigns for KCET productions and programs on both television and online, as well as KCET "events" including membership and fundraising drives.
• Supervise media planning and advertising production.
• Establish and supervise the Communications budget.
• Perform other duties as assigned.


JOB REQUIREMENTS
• Minimum of 5 years of professional-level publicity experience, preferably in the Broadcasting, News or Entertainment field.
• 4-year college degree is required. (BA, BS) Major Journalism, Communications, Liberal Studies, Writing or equivalent experience.
• Supervisory experience is a must.
• Outstanding oral and written communication skills in English. Experience in writing and editing in Journalist style.
• Knowledge of television production and online production.
• Ability to write press materials quickly and clearly. Excellent proofreading skills.
• Understanding of graphics, photography, production and printing procedures.
• Understanding of photography principles.
• Knowledge of advertising design, layout and purchasing.
• Familiarity with the LA press very helpful.
• Must be proficient with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Internet, Web Resources, and e-mail.

PRODUCER, NEW MEDIA
JOB SUMMARY
Will supervise and manage Internet and mobile platform based projects relating to national and local television productions as well as develop and produce original content for Internet and mobile platforms.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE JOB
•Will work with creative, production, promotion, outreach, technical and development teams throughout the life span of a project.
•Supervise project contracts, budgets, timelines and deliverables.
•Interface with PBS, guaranteeing that the design, content and functionality of our New Media productions are consistent with PBS technical specifications and contemporary standards.
•Propose new projects for development.
•Fundraising for special projects.
•Stay current with leading web, multimedia and interactive television technologies.
•Supervise departmental web staff and project employees as appropriate.
•Responsibilities will include working with various departments within KCET to create new content for KCET.org and companion sites to local productions.

JOB REQUIREMENTS
•Bachelor of Arts in communications, media, computer programming or related fields (or equivalent experience).
•3 years experience in web, multimedia and interactive TV production.

EXECUTIVE ASSISTANT
JOB SUMMARY
Provide office administration and secretarial support to the Executive Vice President & General Counsel. Will work on various administrative projects related the EVP’s areas of job responsibilities, including administrative support to the Associate Director of Foundations & Corporate Relations and to the Manager of Rights & Clearances.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE JOB
• Oversee the day-to-day office management of the General Counsel’s office and the Foundations & Corporate Relations Department.
• Assist EVP with duties as Assistant Secretary of KCET; help with organization of Board of Directors and Board Affairs Committee meetings; prepare and distribute minutes for Board of Directors meetings and meetings of other Board Committees.
• Assist in the preparation of foundation proposals, government grants, and related materials. This may include assembling information used in proposals & presentations. Prepare reports as needed by Associate Director of Foundations & Corporate Relations.
• Files management; maintain and organize the Legal Department’s file room; create, organize and maintain files in a timely manner. Work closely with the Manager of Rights & Clearances to organize department files and to respond to licensing and distribution requests, particularly with respect to licensed materials for KCET produced series.
• Review, prioritize, and direct all incoming documents and calls for the Executive Vice President, including calls from charitable foundations. Use independent judgment to respond and/or, take appropriate action on requests not requiring the EVP’s attention. Obtain complete and accurate information for all messages.
• Coordinate and manage the Executive Vice President & General Counsel’s calendar; set-up meetings, telephone conferences and lunch meetings.
• Transcribe letters, memos, etc. Compose replies to letters received, thank-you letters, and other miscellaneous letters as requested.
• Compile data information for Company reports, government reports, and/or other pertinent reports under the EVP’s supervision; assist General Counsel with updates of the FCC public file.
• Advise EVP on priority projects and keep up to date with information pertaining to on-going legal matters. Research legal-related information as requested.
• Make all travel arrangements. Handle expense reports, including monthly departmental expense reports.
• On occasion, may provide administrative support for President & CEO's office as needed.
• Perform other duties as assigned.


JOB REQUIREMENTS
• Must have at least 5 years Executive Assistant experience working with high-level Executives, preferably in legal entertainment field, higher education institutions or large nonprofit organizations.
• Bachelor of Arts and/or Paralegal Certificate are highly desirable.
• Must be an excellent office manager with exceptional organizational and interpersonal skills.

ADMINISTRATIVE ASSISTANT
JOB SUMMARY
Provide administrative and secretarial support to the Director, Business & Legal Affairs.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE JOB
• Oversee the day-to-day office management including scheduling of meetings for the Director, Business & Legal Affairs.
• Screen all phone calls and determine appropriate action and/or referral for the Legal Department staff. Review, prioritize, and direct all incoming documents and calls for the Director, Business & Legal Affairs. Use independent judgment to respond and/or, take appropriate action on requests not requiring the Director's attention. Obtain complete and accurate information for all messages.
• Assist Director with contracts and correspondence pertaining to all aspects of television production, including but not limited to, contracts for above and below-the-line talent and websites and internet related activities. Redline contracts and other related documents as instructed by Director.
• Assist with all other station contracts, leases, and other legal instruments with respect to television productions and equipment, websites and interactive media, software and databases.
• Distribute daily mail for the Legal Department.
• Back-up and assist the Executive Assistant to the Executive Vice President & General Counsel with the Legal Department's work overflow.
• Create, organize and maintain business and legal affairs files in a timely manner; coordinate filing with overall Legal Department files maintained by the Executive Assistant for the Executive Vice President & General Counsel.

JOB REQUIREMENTS
• Must have at least 3 years administrative assistant experience working within a fast-paced work environment in the legal/business affairs entertainment field.
• Bachelors Degree and/or Paralegal Certificate is highly desirable.
• Must have experience working in Business Affairs with redlining of contracts; attention to detail a must.
• Experience in working with entertainment guilds and contracts (DGA, WGA, AFTRA) preferred.

JOB SUMMARY
Will handle telephone inquiries related to Member & Viewer Services and programming. Handle inbound/outbound calls and written correspondence as they relate to membership and programming. Assist the Department Director with collection and data entry processing of membership and programming data statistics.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE JOB
• Handle inbound calls pertaining to Member & Viewer service issues, update membership records in the Team Approach database, generate membership revenue through telephone solicitations and upsell techniques, respond to and follow up on phone/mail inquiries by sending KCET correspondence, such as the following: KCET monthly program guides, renewal forms, new member packets and various other types of correspondence.
• Process and perform data entry of membership and programming related mail.
• Will respond to various forms of written correspondence (such as snail mail and executive mail, etc).
• Will respond to online membership and programming inquiries.
• Retrieve and respond to incoming member requests by telephone.
• Act as department liaison to Director by reporting statistics and daily workflow matters.
• Handle Call Center customer service projects.
• Handle fundraising drive projects.
• Coordinate and maintain records of children’s on-air birthday greetings.

JOB REQUIREMENTS
• Must have 2 or more years of customer service experience, preferably with a service oriented company and or a public relations background; Liberal Arts college courses are highly desirable.
• Must be extremely well organized and pay attention to detail with a high level of accuracy.

SECURITY OFFICER - NIGHT SHIFT
JOB SUMMARY
This position will provide security and safety for KCET employees, materials and equipment.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE JOB
• Control employee and visitor ingress and egress.
• Monitor CCTV equipment.
• Assist in the prevention of robbery, vandalism and industrial crimes.
• Receive or direct deliveries of mail, packages and equipment.
• Call for emergency medical services as needed. Contact upper management as applicable.
• Provide telephonic information during non-business hours as needed.
• Completes various security related and internal reports as instructed.
• Receive or direct deliveries of mail, packages and equipment.
• Able to work the full-time night shift.
• Available for duty 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
• Provide fire and safety support and control.

OUTREACH COORDINATOR - TEMPORARY
JOB SUMMARY
Will provide outreach coordination and administration support to the "A Place of Our Own" and "Los Nińos en Su Casa" and other Community & Educational Outreach Projects.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE JOB).
• Assist in the coordination and maintenance of all outreach project administrative activities (manage and respond to voicemail/email correspondence from partners, workshop participants, etc., material coordination and fulfillment, monthly material inventory, project activity logs, workshop schedules, data entry/management, spreadsheet creation & management, mailings, invoice tracking and other related duties).
• Assist in the coordination of outreach activities, including teacher/caregiver workshops, trainings, awards ceremonies, seminars, screenings, meetings, conferences, etc.
• Create, coordinate and maintain all project files (print and electronic).
• Maintain organization of the outreach storage area.
• Assist in the coordination of requests for funding and final project reports and evaluation assessments.
• Represent KCET at targeted venues and outlets to generate greater community involvement and visibility (funder, station and partner meetings, community events, conferences, etc.)
• Track contracts, payments and paperwork between KCET and the production staff; process invoices and payments to vendors.
• Prepare purchase order requisitions.
• Assist department staff with research activities & materials.
• Perform other duties as assigned.


JOB REQUIREMENTS
• BA or BS in early childhood education or related fields, or equivalent experience.
• One to two years experience as a project leader within the education field and project coordination experience.
• Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred.
• Excellent writing, reading and verbal skills in English and also preferred in Spanish.
• Knowledge/experience with statewide and national community and educational organizations serving diverse child care providers, families and children.
• Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to contribute effectively to the efforts of high-energy, high performance team of professionals committed to utilizing the resources of KCET on behalf of children, youth and the community.
• Must be able to work weekends and travel to selected conferences, meetings and trainings.
